COLUMBIA, Mo. - Sophomore wrestler Kyle Bradley (St. Peters, Mo.) has been named a recipient of the 2012 Wilma Rudolph Award from the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics.

The N4A Wilma Rudolph Student Athlete Achievement Award is intended to honor student athletes who have overcome great personal, academic, and/or emotional odds to achieve academic success while participating in intercollegiate athletics.

Bradley, who qualified for the NCAA Championship at 149 pounds for the second straight season in 2011-12, has a retinal disease called X linked retinoschisis. The disease primarily occurs in young males and usually starts during childhood. Tiny cysts form on the retina, which can cause acuity loss in the center of the visual field. While it is rare that affected individuals go completely blind, some have limited reading vision and are legally blind.

This past season, Bradley had an overall record of 25-13 and wrestled in all 19 of the team's duals, putting together an 11-8 record in those contests. Bradley finished second at the Big 12 Championship and advanced to the NCAA Championship for the second year in a row, winning three matches at the tournament.

Majoring in Health Sciences, Bradley and several other recipients will be honored at the annual N4A convention, held Saturday, June 9, in Buffalo, N.Y.
